There are many paths to wealth, but the most common and reliable method is to own a business. The struggles, complexities and risks associated with launching, managing, growing and eventually transitioning a business can be exceedingly difficult, which helps explain why the failure rate is so high. When we compare the practices of the top 10% of advisors against their peers, it’s easy to see why they’re successful. This small group of professionals is more likely to specialize in working with a particular type of client instead of assuming the default position of a generalist accepting whatever type of opportunity walks through the door.
