Carolin Botzenhardt has joined UBS Private Wealth Management as a private wealth advisor in the firm’s La Jolla, Calif., office, the company said.
Botzenhardt has 22 years of experience serving high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and institutional clients with a minimum of $100 million or more in liquid assets, UBS said in a news release. She was formerly with Wells Fargo Clearing Services LLC in San Diego, and according to Wealthminder, manages over $692 million in client assets.
A summa cum laude graduate of the University of California San Diego, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in international affairs and finance, Botzenhardt specializes in investment management; trust and estate planning; residential, commercial and structured lending solutions; capital markets; and foreign exchange, according to UBS.
“Carolin’s expertise in marshaling the firm’s resources for the benefit of our clients will enable us to deepen and grow key relationships in the Southern California region,” John Mathews, head of UBS Private Wealth Management, said in a press release.
Botzenhardt said in an email that she stresses family planning with her clients.
“There are perobably three components of a family financial and legal plan that are truly critical: a living trust or will and estate plan, which should be discussed wth all inheriting members of the family; an advance directive; and a ‘life book’ of everything your family might need if you become incapacitated, very ill, or pass away unexpectedly,” she said in the email.
Botzenhardt said that the life book should contain personal information to be passed onto family members; important user names and passwords to retrieve statements of accounts, payroll deposits, online and automated bill payments; a valid will or living trust; powers of attorney; medical history and medications list; family members and friends who should be notified; pet caretakers; safe, safe deposit box, and alarm information; social media accounts and treasured family photos stored electronically; and domain names or blogs that have monetary value.
“A great advisor truly cares about helping clients achieve their own dreams, and offers advice beyond investing,” she said. “This means that we have ongoing conversations with clients; we ask the right questions; and we put their concerns front and center in the way we help them to develop financial plans for the long term – not just looking at their immediate needs, but also by determining what goals they have for the next chapter of their lives, as well as their legacy.”
