Buffett Says Winner Of A $3.46M Lunch Auction Is a Woman

Warren Buffett, who raised $3.46 million last week in a charity auction, provided a detail about the anonymous bidder who made the winning offer.

“The one thing I will tell you, because we’re in this crowd: It’s a woman,” the billionaire chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. said Tuesday at the United State of Women conference in Washington. “The record now is co-held by a woman.”

The winning bidder gets to bring guests to dine with Buffett at New York’s Smith & Wollensky steakhouse. The annual auctions have raised a total of more than $20 million since 2000 for Glide, a San Francisco organization that aids the homeless and poor. The winning price in 2012, also from an anonymous bidder, was $3.46 million as well.
