Brandon Haley, head of global equities at Ken Griffin’s Citadel LLC, left after nine years at the hedge-fund firm.
Katie Spring, a spokeswoman for Chicago-based Citadel, said Haley departed this month. He didn’t return e-mails seeking a comment.
Haley, 40, was the sole head of the group following the departures of Steve Weller in February 2013 and Jeff Runnfeldt in August 2012. Executives in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and London will oversee the business, and will report to Griffin, founder of the $24 billion firm.
The global equities team, which runs a $3.6 billion stand- alone fund, returned 22 percent in 2014 through mid-December, and 12.2 percent in 2013, according to a person familiar with the firm. Equity hedge funds declined 0.1 percent in 2014 after advancing 10.7 percent in 2013, according to Bloomberg’s index of hedge funds.
