Four San Francisco-based wealth management professionals have broken way from a large multinational financial services company to found their own independent firm.
Intellectus Partners started today with David J. La Placa, a former wealth manager in Deutsche Bank AG’s San Francisco office, becoming CEO. Jay Casey, former Deutsche Bank director, advisor, and portfolio manager, will serve as president.
Joining La Placa and Casey are vice presidents Tina Chan and Kelly Morton.
The group formerly managed about $3 billion at Deutsche Bank, said La Placa. Intellectus will cater to entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley and elsewhere as a fee-only RIA.
New York-based Dynasty Financial Partners advised the breakaway, the 29th that the firm has orchestrated since being founded five years ago. Dynasty took 12 firms independent in 2014, and expects to do “as many as 15” this year.
